Did you know that according to a recent study, consumers prefer to receive direct mail vs. an email?
It’s true! To garner the attention and ROI you’re looking for, you'll want to make sure your direct mail piece stands out.
So, let’s put some Mrs. Dash on your current direct mail marketing ideas and see if we can spice things up, shall we?
Think Outside the Envelope
Picture the type of mail you get in your mailbox: do you notice a trend? The majority of letters come in an envelope. Make yours stand out with unique packaging, whether that means a fun shape, bright colors, or unique textures.
Our newest Launch Room format, the Supersized Self Mailer, comes in a letter-sized format but folds out to 4x that size. This format is a great way to leave a lasting impression with your customers.
Give Them an Offer They Can’t Refuse
People will be more inclined to open your direct mail pieces if you entice them with a promotion that appeals to them. Risk-free offers are a great way to get people’s attention, or coupons that provide a substantial discount. Include a guarantee to remove the barrier to purchase, and use testimonials or data to back up why they should take advantage of this promotion.
Data Is Your Friend
Make sure you’re creating a campaign with clean data and a well-defined audience, then tailor your messaging to appeal to that demographic.
Are you crafting an appeal for a foundation that raises funds for cancer research? Be sure to include imagery that shows people who have been impacted by the donations that were received: include testimonials, relevant data, and compelling visuals. Sending a plain white form letter with just a color logo may not have the same effect you’re looking for with this particular mailing.
Don’t Leave Them Hanging
No matter what type of mailing you send out, always be sure that you follow up. Any piece you send out should include some form of a call to action: call to talk to a representative, visit your website, or enter a giveaway. These are the people you want to make sure you connect with and include in additional mailings with new information, updates, and sales messages.
These are just some of the ways you can add a “dash” of delight to your next direct mail campaign.
